Mozilla Firefox is a free software and Open-Source internet web-browser. It is a widely localized web browser, fast, tested for security and user privacy. The first official release in November 2004 was available in 24 different languages. Firefox is made and developed by Mozilla Corporation, the non-profit champions of a healthy internet. It has a huge collection of add-ons that can be installed separately and allow users to customize as needed.
Firefox was created in 2002 under the codename “Phoenix” by the Mozilla community members who desired a standalone browser, rather than the Mozilla Application Suite bundle. During its beta phase, Firefox proved to be popular with its testers and was praised for its speed, security, and add-ons. Firefox began incorporating new technology under the code name Quantum to promote parallelism and a more intuitive user interface.
Firefox source code is a free software with most of it being released under the Mozilla Public License (MPL) version 2.0. This license permits anyone to view, modify, or redistribute the source code. As a result, several publicly released applications have been built from it, such as Netscape, Flock, Miro, GNU IceCat, Iceweasel, Songbird, Pale Moon, and Comodo IceDragon.
Firefox Quantum Features include tabbed browsing, spell checking, incremental search, live bookmarking, Smart Bookmarks, a download manager, private browsing, and an integrated search system, which uses Google by default in most markets. Additionally, It provides an environment for web developers in which they can use built-in tools, such as the Error Console or the DOM Inspector, or extensions, such as Firebug and more recently there has been an integration feature with Pocket.
- Firefox Quantum is twice as fast as Firefox was before.
- Smooth browsing, Switching between tabs is faster than ever with Firefox’s new, responsive engine.
- Firefox imports your bookmarks, autofills, passwords and preferences from Chrome.
- Private Browsing, Firefox blocks online trackers while you browse and won’t remember your history after you’re done.
- Tracking Protection, Some ads have hidden trackers that follow you online.
- Faster Page Loading, pages load up faster.
Firefox for Android
The codename used for Firefox for Android is Fennec. It comes from the fennec fox, a small desert fox (just as the Fennec browser is a small version of Firefox browser). It is the build of the Mozilla Firefox web browser for devices such as smartphones and tablet computers. Mozilla also makes another mobile browser for iOS called Firefox for iOS. Firefox for Android uses the same Quantum layout engine as Mozilla Firefox. It allows installation of themes and extensions.
